So we finished up with Goonz's UIM/LIM rebuild and cleaning around 1 am or so on Saturday, well Sunday morning I guess. I leave to drive back to CT, which it was pouring like crazy out. It's 3 am at this point, I'm only going about 65 mph on the highway most of the way. There was a break in the storm and rain stopped completely in a certain area of Mass. I accelerated to just under 80 mph to make up for a little missed time.
Out of nowhere, empty, totally dark highway, I see headlights behind me. By the time I noticed them, the flashers came on. I pulled over, he said I was doing 79 in a 65. Gives me a $140 ticket. I was not rude in any way, quiet, polite, etc.
I drive off down the highway, continue in the middle lane. I start to come up on a Maxima in the same lane, going slower than me. I change to the left lane to pass, but once I do, the Maxima sped up and continued down the highway. I stayed in the left lane. See headlights behind me again now, in the center lane. I knew it was him, so I tripled checked my speed and was only going 65 mph according my gauge.
He gets behind me, and turns on the lights. I'm shocked at this point. I thought I was dreaming or something. He walks up to my windows, says "Anthony, do you know why I stopped you?" I said no I don't. He says, I got you on radar doing 55 mph in the left lane without passing or traveling faster than rest of traffic. Continues to say, "the left lane is not there for you to do 55 and go joyriding". He says, do you understand? In a quiet, confused voice, I said, "no, I'm sorry I don't". His response, "Ok, good. License and registration please." Takes it and walks away. Comes back with a warning ticket. Gets snotty and says if you don't understand the rules of the road, get a manual. So I drive off.
2 mins later, I'm traveling all the way to the right this time. He comes up behind me and just follows me down the highway. All of a sudden, changes to the middle lane and floors it down the highway.
I swear, I felt like I was living in a movie or suttin.
I HATE MASS!! Roads are confusing to me, and cops suck arse!
I finally got home at 4 am. Had to be up for 8:30 to go to my dads birthday breakfast at his house. Didn't get there till almost 1 pm and got b*tched out by my stepmom.

damn Maximas
You should have totally asked him if he was a Super Trooper that second time round. I probably would have in that situation. Absurd. Did you tell him you were doing ~65 according to your gauge? Afterward I'd probably be in the right lane doing 45 when he's behind me ... after all, that's the minimum allowed speed limit on the highway

someone should have that statey talk to the rest of the staties in mass. i had one come up behind me the other day on 93 i was doing about 70, he got right on my arse and i thought i was getting pulled over.. but no, he just moved in to the passing lane and stayed even with my rear bumper, when i slowed down he slowed down. we travelled this way for a good 5 or 6 miles before he jumped accross the highway and exited.
kinda freaked me out.
NY State Trooper: So what makes your car so special to have SVT all over it?

I'm not really sure what you are upset about.
The first ticket sounds like it was legit, and he didn't give you a 2nd ticket. I wish more cops pulled people over for not "passing" in the passing lane.

First ticket was legit, but the thing that I'm wondering about was how did he get me on radar if he was driving down the highway behind me? He merged with me on an onramp.
The ticket had both "Estimated" and "Radar" checked off.
And for the passing lane thing. Should it really matter that I drove for about 2 mins in the passing lane, middle of the night, only car on the road? This is not something I do in traffic with other cars around me.
