I had one on my stock SE hood from the yellow top. Ended up getting a CF hood anyways and fixing the problem!

The Yellow Top is a "Deep Cycle", with less CCA's, but can discharge and recharge with little to no ill affects.
The Blue Top is a hybrid of sorts, more CCA's than the Yellow, less than the Red, but is also a Deep Cycle battery like the Yellow. Kind of the best of both worlds. They are also the most expensive if I remember correctly.

Yellow Tops are also the hybrid you speak of.

The cheap Blue Top, 34M, has the same specs as the 34/34R Red Top, and is just a starting (not deep cycle). The other 2 Blue Tops (D34M and D31M) are deep cycle and starting.

Starting batteries:
  • 34/34R Red Top: 800CCA, 1000CA, 110 reserve
  • 34M Blue Top: 800CCA, 1000CA, 110 reserve

    Starting and deep cycle:
  • D34/78 Yellow Top: 750CCA, 870CA, 120 reserve
  • D31M Blue Top: 900CCA, 1125CA, 155 reserve

Note that I only listed the best of each. The Blue Tops are still the best, though.

The threaded terminals might be handy if you like to remove your trunk setup a lot. Well, if your battery was in the trunk!

What How much do the drivers weight? I have never heard of that before. Either the battery is very very heavy or the driver doesn't weight much at all.

[knocking on wood] Im still on my original car battery gulp!

Knowing my luck, im going to go outside right now and my car wont start!

Its obviously not the same weight of the driver, but it helps offset it some.

    Batteries arent that light.

true, they are not light but to off set a driver I guess every little bit helps.

haha! I didn't mean it evens out the weight! It just helps...a 160lb driver with another 25lbs (i never weighed a bat) to one side vs that 25lbs on the other side making it equivelant to a 135 lb driver. Sorta get what I can't explain...hehe.
