Geez, I never considered it might catch fire when it burns off. I usually just tolerate the stink for a little while. Of course, I do try to clean it up a little with a shop rag first.

the odds of it actually catching fire are slim, unless of course the exhaust was hot prior to the oil spilling on it.

with it on a cold exhaust it will slowly bake off as the exhaust warms up.



i almost set a volvo on fire years ago while putting oil in it at the gas station.
hehe

No fires here, definitely the slow bake.


Old car: '98 SVT T-Red K&N air filter; Ford Focus RS shift knob. Off to be auctioned off somewhere. New car: 2003 Honda Accord DX Sedan, 5-speed.
