It's a supercar.
Have you seen one? Think it would be practical to drive every day?
It's mid engined, just as the enzo.
Its performance is quite close to an enzo's. The GT has pretty skinny tires, with correctly sized tires, it'd be even closer in performance.
It's not based on a lower model car and is very low production.
The biggest difference between the two is cost. The GT just happens to be an almost affordable supercar.
I think Ford could have charged nearly twice as much and sold just as many.
They also could have boosted performance. But Ford just wanted to make a good car, not an enzo killer. And they had a target price range. They know that most the owners that buy them don't race them anyways. Those that do race them can modify them for much cheaper than an enzo can be.
PS: I saw three Z06s this weekend and no GTs (though one is at our local dealer).
98.5 SVT
91 Escort GT (almost sold)
96 ATX Zetec (i brake to watch you swerve)
FS: SVT rear sway bar
WTB: Very cheap beater
