Back with more info - I finally had a chance to take a closer look....

Bottom of the oil pan had this pleasant looking dark liquid substance coated evenly over it.... greeeaaat.... Now that I look back over my service records, the last oil change coincides with the BBQing SVT smell.... So, it looks like the oafs at the local lube shack overtightended the oil filter, or something.........

Now please excuse me while I go pry this size 10 from the clenches of my pearly whites....
