I can certainly understand why they have the rule, I mean how bad does it look when UAW workers show up to a Ford truck plant driving an Toyota Sequoia, or a Honda Pilot. It basically tells the public that the people building the cars don't have the confidence in them to purchase one. That is a bad thing for the public to see, and so it is in Ford's interest to keep that from happening as much as possible. That is the reason for A plan and other employee incentives.
This would make a good topic for my system dynamics class. The problem is that Ford is only creating a temporary solution solely to benefit their own PR instead of truly looking at the problem at hand -- why are their employees purchasing from other manufacturers?

Oh, I agree with you totally on Ford only creating a temporary solution. I don't even think it is the best idea, but I understand why it is done. BTW, the reason Ford employees want to drive things other than Ford cars is because they can buy cars they percieve to be better than a Ford in any number of ways.
