What I'm curious about is whether employees can park Mazdas, Volvos, or other Ford-owned products in the lot.

I find it funny that some of you guys find the policy 'stupid' and that you should be able to buy whatever you want. Yeah, you can, and let your wife drive brand X to her work and you drive the Ford to work. If you build brand X, then you should at least one at a minimum one brand X vehicle. If you aren't buying what you are building, why should other people? Its that simple folks.

Not that simple. There are, as is common, two sides to this argument.
1. I can see the point that the employees should drive whatever they wish and not have a privelege revoked for not driving a Ford. Freedom to choose.
OTOH
2. As an employer, Ford wants their employees to have some sort of vested interest in buiding a quality product. How many people have you seen do a job half heartedly. Happens every day. Now if that person knew that the product would/could be used by one of their co-workers or family members, they might be inclined to put forth a bit more conscientious effort. Not only benficial from a product quality standpoint, but corporate image as well.
Both are valid arguments, but conflicting. Frankly, I support Ford & other automakers on this issue. So does the union, which kinda surprised me...
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

This may be the first time I have seen someone come out with this as an official policy, but it happens nearly everywhere.

I can see it now - Boeing employees will no longer be allowed to fly on airlines that use Airbus equipment.

I'll bite at the sarcastic comment...
For one that would be difficult since every major US operator with the exception of Delta and Southwest uses Airbus equipment (and Delta at one time did fly some).
Secondly, while one could limit yourself to flights using only Boeing equipment, rather than airlines (since, as above, that's not possible) a Boeing employee has no control over what equipment is used on what flight, and even the airline can't predict with 100% accuracy what equipment it will be.
Lastly, and most importantly, your attempted line of logic is flawed. That particular Ford plant offers an incentive if you drive a Ford. It doesn't claim that you have to drive a Ford in order to work for Ford, just that you'll get better parking if you choose to do so. If Boeing was giving out free airline tickets to its' employees, then it would have every right to dictate that those free tickets were only valid on flights using Boeing equipment.

My real aim was to highlight the fact that large corporations are attempting (and have been successful for some time now) to control how an employee spends his/her time and money while outside of the work environment. I see this as only the beginning, and that Ford will likely take that to the next level. To me it is just a silly way to try and force the employees to buy a Ford product.

Yes, I recently heard the McDonald's has said if you do not eat 2 out of 3 meals at your restarant you will be fired. Additionally, DeWalt has said that if you don't use their drills for home improvement projects you will not be able to use the restrooms in your building. NASCAR has also made it 'illegal' for their employees to watch other forms of racing such as WRC or F1
