What exactly are you looking to gain in your quest to change the oil pump?
The Noble's Duratec is modified with piston oil squirters, plus there are the two turbos (only oil cooled on the lower model), the huge sump, long lines, oil cooler, etc.
We've seen what seems to be a few oil related failures so far, mostly related to heavy track use. Even the engine builder (AER in Texas) was looking into a higher performing pump to cope, but that seems stalled.
I was hoping to find an easy solution. Contacting Melling for a high volume racing pump is an option, but one I'd like to avoid exploring until other options are exhausted.

Well the Mazda pump for VVT would HAVE to have a higher volume output just to lubricate the same components and the VVT on top of it at the same time. Logically speaking. I don't know what the pressure of the unit is, but you can drop the pressure to that of your stock noble unit by changing out the springs if you think the pressure is going to be too high. A higher volume pump would probably be rated at the same pressure or similar.

Don't have the specs from the FSM, not sure it even lists it (It does for the 2.3 Duratec..), but here is the oil flow diagram for a better understanding of what this pump is pumping through:

I can't remember the exact modification, but there is a way to modify the existing pump by shortening the check valve spring IIRC to increase oil pressure. Brad Noon was telling me it's a common trick used by the mustang guys using modular motors that are running a very similar pump to ours.

Yes. If you increase the pressure yet the hole size doesn't change then you will also increase oil volume up to a point.
The old V8 guys used to push out the pin that held in the spring on the pressure bypass, then slip in washers behind the spring to increase the pressure by a controlled amount. You can probably do similar here, but the preferred method would be the higher volume pump.
