Well let me know how this turns out if you could. I still need to have my dash replaced for by them. My car also started having issues this past weekend and I'm a little concerned about it.

My power steering pump has been leaking and I haven't had a chance to take it in just yet, but while I was on the coast this past week, my car almsot didn't start on one occasion. It sounded like the power steering pump had started to seize. The engine eventually started, but not without a TON of blue smoke out its arse. I've seen it do this on 3 different occasions now.

My car was purchased new back in December and has 19,000 miles on it now (yes I know I drive a lot). I change the oil every 4000 miles in mine with mobile 1. The car is driven hard and pushed very hard on weekends, but I maintain my car very well. I'm interested in taking my car in right now to have this looked at, but I'm sure they are just going to tell me it was normal. But starting an engine under that kind of load (when the power steering pump was almost seized) couldn't have been good for the engine. Note the power steering fluid was at the min level, but was refilled to full. The pulley squeaks now when the car is cold.

the problem you are having(I think) is very very well documented here on this site I would suggest doing a search for "blown engines"...this should help you when to talk to the techs again.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. wink I will let you know how it turns out tomorrow after my visit. My experiences at this dealship so far have been ok... They replaced my driver side seat belt a year ago and put a hole in the arm rest some how... frown I asked about it and they replaced the door panel as well.... So far they have been pretty good to me considering I bought the car from an individual.

We will see.

Thanks again!!

VG

Well so far I feel pretty good about the deal. I am heading down to see their work on the dash and talk to the tech about the new short block.

Ford orded a shortblock for my car... No eta. They look like they are going to take care of the bill.... Time will tell.

I will keep you posted!

Thanks,

VG

I am posting a version of this under my orginal post... see link at top of tread as I will not be updating this here any further.... frown

Well things have gone totally wrong. You might want to consider another dealer as this one is completly gone. I am probably done with Ford at this point as well for good... I have never owned anything else... The best the Ford Customer Care line could do with the rental car is pay all but 25 a day.... So 30 X 25 = $750 for 30 days with a rental... If it goes past 30 days.... I pickup the whole tab. I tried being profession and curious in my dealings with them just as with anyone else.

I told the rep. if that was Fords standing then my family would take their loyalty elsewhere. I told here how many Fords we have had and told here it was evident that we were just peas in a pod. Looks like Ford is hell bent on becoming number 3 as far as the big 3 are concerned.

I personally will advise others to avoid the doing business with this particular dealership.

The rep said that 3-4 weeks was the best they would do time wise, even though I told her I had evidence that a Long block was available to solve the problem... They just DON'T care!

I am totally sorry for ranting about this on the board as I know Ford bashing is NOT looked on as a good thing, I just don't have anyone else to discuss this with that share some of the same experiences, both good and bad of owning an SVT Contour.

Thanks for letting me vent.

VG
