I'd say thats about right for a quality 3L swap with a few extra goodies done by the DIY'r. My original 3L with all the extensive valve/head work plus a 2.5" exhaust ran me around $1500 because I did so much work myself.
I think I was about $2000 into it by the time I had done headers, gauge pod with EGT, and a few other small mods.

What are your goals with the car? What are your future plans? Keeping it N/A, or possibly adding a bottle/turbo down the road? I'm guessing with the high CR, it's either a bottle or N/A for you. Figure ~$750 for pistons, ~$1500 for headwork, $600 for LSD, ~$350 for clutch, ~$400 for gaskets/hardware, and $600 for tuning(PRP). That's $4200 right there, but could always be done for less.
