Did you go Todd??

Me and Greg were there, caught the last spectator stage Friday and most of the Saturday stages. Not as good as it was when the SCCA was running it. Too many Subies, not enough variety. Of course, when Subaru offers a $500,000 bonus to the winning team at the end of the year if they're driving a Subie, well I guess that's incentive to drive one.

Best turn ever: Last spectator stage, Friday night. A Volkswagen GTI--in an attempt to make a 90 degree right hand turn onto a new road--spins 270 degrees to the left, stays on the gas and steers the car perfectly down the road in the intended direction. This particular intersection was icy, but despite the spin in the wrong direction this driver had one of the quickest times through the turn since just about every other car slid through it.

Dumbest hick ever: Second spectator stage Saturday, when a moron in a Dodge pickup decided to drive the wrong way down the stage while it was hot. I can only assume the driver was rectally motivated, as aside from all local residents being notified, the bright yellow tape usually means something bad. Fortunately the driver was herded off the road before something truly unfortunate happened.

All in all a good time, but next year I'm going to go back to scouting my own viewing areas instead of hanging at the spectator stages. The Rally America web site says nothing about this being against the rules, and a whole pile of people were doing it this year.
