I just threw in a new optima and I know it is fine. I managed to jump it yesterday and the friggen thing not only started but it charged. Voltage was fluctuating however at about 13.5 give or take a volt. The scary thing is that when I took it close to redline and back down, it would just about die @ 500rpm, jump to 1500, and then hover around 1000. I'm hoping this is the cars way of dealing with inconsistant voltage readings that it is getting. If not then I have no idea. I'm going to start in on the alternator replacement this weekend and from the sounds of it it will suck. This may come down to process of elimination. If anyone could drop some names of any good high output alternators for the svt I would appreciate it. Not to mention durable.... (I don't want to change it out again any time soon
