Boxing the filter in makes it near the same as a stock SVT cone filter. Improve the inlet to the cone filter and you will solve much of the issues with the SVT one, which solves much of the issues with the normal duratec one.
I gotta agree, it seems like everyone wants to reinvent the wheel It's a nice mod after using an open element airfilter which doesn't do a damn thing except sound really cool.
I bet a stock airbox which has the proper conical shape and a larger inlet welded to it using a piece of abs tubing jammed into the fenderwell would make as much hp as one of these boxes pictured here. Paint it you favorite color and voila! Function and beauty for about 5 bucks
