The license plate idea is possibly one of the dumbest suggestions ever made on CEG. I would highly recommend you not to even think about doing it.

Secondly, laser detection is nice, but its basically a "you just got f**ked" alarm. For one, laser is instant on, instant off. So as soon as your detector goes off, it is basically telling you that the officer already knows how fast you are going. The other downside is that laser is very very accurate. Not just at measuring speed, but there isnt any spread (or stray beam) like with radar. What this means to you is that there isnt any "stray" laser for your detector to pick up unless it was aimed directly at you. At least with instant on radar, the radar waves are scattered everywhere so that you can pick them up even if they arent aimed at you. The chances of picking up laser if its not being targeted at you is slim to none.

Still though, laser isnt used all that often. Just pick yourself up a nice detector like the V1 or 8500 and you'll be set for the majority of the time.

The bottom line: the only defense against laser is driving slower.
