What's the Kw/hr rate for your electric? It's 7.63 cents here and just over 9 cents in Northern Wisconsin.
That said: 1817 square foot center townhome with electric range, gas heat at 66 (allowed to float down during the day if I remember to do it), gas dryer and water heater. $28 for electric, $106 for gas.

Dec bill was around $450 for gas @ $16/CFM or whatever they measure at that with temp at 68 and 65 at night/work. Average temp for the month was 30 degrees which seems low considering how warm this winter has been. I have dual furnaces and should have put in electric heat when I built this sucker.....
Electricity is at like 0.07/KW and that bill is $70-$100 Seems we use the same power no matter what time of year
Edit - forgot to mention I have a tankless Hot water heater too, in the summer our bill is like $10 since it only turns on when needed.

I am SO getting one of these when it comes time to replace my hot water heater!
What brand/model do you have? Don't know if I should pay for the Bosch or if the Rheem ones are as good for what my use is.

I got the Bosch model. Think it was a 900 Series Model number. If you have it a long way from your faucet it takes like 20-30 seconds to get hot water - but after that you never run out. Also using that neoprene coating (not the cheap foam ones) on the hot water lines makes a huge difference on long runs with the tankless unit. There is abot 30ft of pipe to get to my Master Bath and putting that insulation on the pipes raised the temp at the faucet about 20 degrees. Before it was hot - now it gets reaaallly hot, I was quote suprised how much it helped. Plus it keeps the water in the line hot longer too.

Electric has been around $55/mo over winter and natural gas for heat and water was $145 for December @72 degrees 6a-10p & 70 @ night. I've lowered it to 70/68 now. I have all new windows and I added insulation in the attic last fall. I do have a programmable thermostat, but my 8mo old daughter and sitter stay home all day. Wife won't let me turn it down too much at night like we used to either.

You must not be married lol!!
I have a programable thermostat that keeps the hosue at 72 when I'm there and 68 when I'm not. I don't want it to get too cold while im away or otherwise it takes too long ot get the hosue warmed back up, using too much energy as well. BTW my house is 4 stories (including basement and attic) and is about 1200 sq ft.
Hahaa you're right, I'm not married! I've got a 5 degree variance, but I figure that the energy it takes to warm up from 60 to 65, is not going to outweigh the 13 hours that the t-stat is set to 60.

Electric -$19, Gas -$183. I have radiant heat so it's not practical to have a programmable t-stat. Takes too long for the house to come up to temp. Set at 65 all the time. I prefer it at 68.

I have equal payment plans for Natural Gas. It started out being $80 a month as of 12 months ago, this winter it went up to 107, and this month it just went up to 125 . Electric last month was 60, but I am about to sign up with the equal payment plan service for that too, to make budgeting easier.
