Just wanted to get some feedback on this. Installed a Oil Filter relocation on my hybrid 3.0. Filled engine with oil and went to crank it up (was completly cold). 10 seconds no oil pressure. Stopped the motor and pulled the oil filter. Was full of oil. Started engine again for 10-15 seconds again no oil pressure. Pondered on the problem and started it once more for say 20 seconds and again no pressure. Stopped the motor and discovered my oil hose lines on the oil filter relocation kit were crossed. Switched them up and immediate normal oil pressure!

I'm concerned about the 30-45 seconds of completly cold running time with no oil pressure. I heard no out of the ordinary noise. Do you think I did any damage to the engine or bearings?

Things to keep in mind...

1. Engine was completly cold

2. Engine was filled with 6 1/2 quarts of mobil one 5-30 just minutes before cranking

3. Always had oil pressure going as far as the oil filter, but none on the return line back to the block.

That sucks.

If you didn't rev it up at all, you might have added 50k miles to your engine. If you did rev it up, 100k miles or more.

Where do you have your oil pressure line run to? If it's down in the crank case, it should show that you had oil pressure.

He probably installed it in one of the bungs on the oil filter adapter, in the remote location.

That's a great speculation. How about you just wait until the OP actually responds.

That's a great..... what are you talking about? It's called using logic to work out a problem. If Ryan thinks that's where he tapped into(which I tend to agree), and the "OP" confirms, then no reason to drag the thread out.

Ease up there bodyguard, its a pretty damn good possibility since the only major oil-filter relocation thread on these boards spec'd a kit with bungs for oil pressure and temporature sensors...

EDIT: that was directed at Kokosmellian, and Mark, I wasn't trying to be a dick, I hope I didn't come accross that way

Will be checking oil and filter pleats for metal later. Talked to Shawn @ ADC and he feels there is a good chance no damage was done but to be sure, check oil and filter for metal. Anyone else subscribe to this line of thinking?

The oil pressure sensor is tapped into the back of the block FYI.

If it was a new engine with good to normal pre-lube then probably no big deal.

If you had previously had oil on the bearings as in normal oil running through it then I'd again say probably no big deal.

If this engine has sat a long time (not new and no prelube) and you decided to do all of that at once, I'd worry a bit more.

Ryan, I was agreeing with your post. You definitely didn't come off as being a dick.
