I have had this problem for about 3-4 years now. Whenever I accelerate from about 50-80mph I get a nasty shaking through the steering wheel, floor, everywhere; and passangers can feel it as bad as I do. I have new engine mounts, and have replaced the CV joints 2 times now. When I change the right CV out the shaking is noticably lessened, but it is definatly still there. What can I do, I am at a loss and everyone I have talked to has no clue either. I need to fix this, the ammount of shaking that goes on can not be good for the rest of the car... Thanks for the help!! -Nick

Turning the wheel to either side, or straight ahead makes no difference in the strength of the shaking... thanks so far for the help...

I would have a good front end mechanic look at all suspension / bearing componets in the front. Then I would suggest that they look at your rims to make sure they are true. (not bent from jumping curbs ect.) After checking the rims have the tires spun balanced. I had a tempo that the wheels had intermittent vibrations. This did not quit until the rims where replaced. I had tried replacing the half shafts and tires. Turned out that the rims were bad. A ball joint was also shot but it was not found until the car was raised on a lift the lifted by the frame not the tire.
Good luck Dan

If it's only under acceleration, I'd say engine misfire or something else in the drivetrain. ATX or MTX tranny? I would think that wheel balance would occur whether or not you were accelerating.

I had some shaking as well until I changed my coil, wires and plugs. Could also be in the front end like tie rods, ball joints, rims etc... If only under acceleration, I would check the ignition system first.

Make sure the engine is centered and does not have a driveaxle misaligned or in a bind. Sometimes this happens if the subframe or engine mounts have been disturbed.

I have a MTX. The whole ignition system is fairly new. New plugs, wires, and coilpack have all been replaced.
It is only under acceleration between 50-80, I would think a misfire would be at any speed acceleration?

I battled a similar problem for about 2-3 years, vibration only on acceleration. It first happened after I had a half shaft replaced. I took it back to get that replaced and it didn't help. Took it back to get the other one replaced and that didn't help. I finally ended up getting new OEM half shafts installed and my problem is gone!
