Yep. That IS the Crankshaft Position Sensor alright...
I broke mine and thought, "it's only got two wires, how important could it possibly be?"
A hint: My car wouldn't start without it.
I got the car towed to my favorite mechanic, and they fixed it and packed it full of silicone for like $70 including the tow.
