First off, I'm new here, (Hoping this is in the right place). Well the other day I was heading to college and when I got to the off ramp I noticed that the engine was knocking. So afterbeing a little nervous abou the sound I had it towed back home, and the mechanic told me that the #4 piston was cracked . I find out tomorrrow if it damaged the block or not. So now I'm wondering, what would a new Zetec cost? I figure the current engine has about 90,000 miles right now, so this may be a good time for a new one. Thanks in advance for any help ::Post edited for the - :: ::Post again edited for bad spelling (bad day)::

Could you call it a Zetec engine instead of Z-tech, because that seems a bit annoying. Next you'll be dropping the "h" to make it look even more like vtec.

Terry Haines is the man you want to talk to about getting a new Zetec engine. I believe the last time he quoted a price it was $1600 US for a brand new engine. You can look for a used one somewhere and it may cost less than half that...it wouldn't be new though. BTW, Terry can be found roaming the boards on occasion and you should be able to get his phone number to talk to him about an engine.

Might as well call it a G-tech and confuse us all. I heard you can buy a modified Zetech from Ford Racing for ~$2500.
Have you put in your $0.02 to save contour.org?? Put in what you can spare to keep the site up. Check the General Forum. ~~~~~~ David * 2k Black SVT on 17" Konig/Yokohama * MB Quart all around; Alpine 7995, DEI/Alpine amps; Dynomat

Still waiting to hear from the mechanic..... Still wrong though...its Zetec . :p But I agree with the others, if you want it right, go to Terry Haines.
