I have had my 2004 Freestar for almost a year now and we've not had ANY problems with it at all and we love the thing. Ah well, if Ford stops making minivans, guess we'll just have to see what they have when we are ready for another vehicle. That won't be for a long time though.

WTF, isn't the Aviator just a reskinned Exploder? There is nothing car-based about it!

What part of NEW do you not understand? These are unreleased models that have only been shown to the press........

THIS!

There is nothing NEW about it and if they are going to turn the current Aviator into a crossover they should have stated that! The Aviator is not a "NEW" product if the vehicle was going to be completely redesigned dont you think they would rename it aswell? or at least mention of the current vehicle

Very bottom:

Originally posted by http://www.leftlanenews.com/category/lincoln/ :

Ford is expected to launch two new crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) late next year. The 2007 models will be sold under the Ford Edge and Lincoln Aviator brands. The Edge will be positioned above the Escape and below the Explorer in the Ford lineup. The Aviator (pictured right) will simply replace the current Lincoln model by that name. It will ship with Fords new 245-hp, 3.5-liter V6 engine. Ford plans to build this engine at its factory in Lima, Ohio. Front-wheel drive will be standard on both vehicles, with all-wheel drive available as an option. The Edge and the Aviator will be assembled in Oakville, Ontario.

Also btw (newer than above, so you're both right):

Originally posted by http://www.leftlanenews.com/category/lincoln/ :

Lincoln will join other luxury brands by switching to alphabetic names for its vehicles, using letters instead of words, according to a report published today by Automotive News. The alphabetic names begin this fall when a new Lincoln crossover goes on sale, a Lincoln official confirmed. Ford executives have long referred to that 2007 model as the Lincoln Aviator. Now it will be called the Lincoln MKX.

I think that's gay about the MKX name... someone fubared here.

To me, it looks like "Mark X" or what should be the latest in luxury sport coupes (skipping MkIX)... but oh well! Do what you want fools!

The Freestar was an example of EXTREME corporate stupidity on Ford's part. GM was just as stupid.

It is suicide to take a vehicle way past due for a redesign (the Windstar), give it a very light reskin and a new badge, and send it off into the marketplace. The Freestar should have spun from a Ford Five Hundred platform and been completely rethought and redesigned in every part and detail.

They absolutely need to bring out a true new redesigned minivan, as they cannot afford to surrender that market.

I liked the Taurus Wagon.... Since they had space... Taurus was probaly the last vehicle I can think of that looked like a traditional Station wagon. I honestly thought they were nice, a lift gate, same gas milage as a car, and has more cargo than a sedan/hatchback, and yet didn't get 10 mpg... I still think Ford should have kept the Taurus line. Tauruses are sexy.

I hope they bring back the Freestyle once the 3.5L comes around.

???

Ford dropped the Freestyle (aka 500 wagon, sorta) for slow sales, and it was woefully underpowered. I'm pretty sure I heard it surmised that when the new Duratec 35 came out, Ford was at least considering returning the Freestyle to the showrooms with the new engine under the hood. The extra power would in theory make the Freestyle more palatable to buyers.

Do what?

The Freestyle is doing just fine. More than fine actually, as it's sales growth is outpacing almost every car Ford has. Sales are up over 60%.

screw that, make more hatchbacks!

i am not sad to see the Ford line of minivans go. IMO, the Ford Galaxy is the only one worth looking at and...drum roll...it's not available in the US.

we also don't get the Focus C-Max, which i think would do really well here in the states with the right engine combos. i also think the tuner crowd would have a field day with this...
