ok just got a call from my tec that i took the car to . he said that it could be anything from timming belt to pcm, shorted wire, crank sensor,he also said that he would not charge me anthing because he would not touch it.so i guess i will start with the pcm i can get one monday for 78.00 at a boneyard.he also said in 30 years he has never seen a misfire on 2 and 3 and 1 and 4 . also whatever is causing the misfire is also causing the fans not to work. if anyone has any ideas let me know.

Gezz, just replace the wires already.... You might need a coil, but I'd bet against those wires. I suggest either AutoLite Professionals or OEM Motorcrafts, not the Ford racing ones.

Secondary misfires are going to be in the secondary ignition system.

The tech didn't want to get into it because he saw it as a no win situration. It wasn't a straight-forward repair that he could make and move on to the next job.

Diagnose the fan problem separately.

You can replace the PCM, but I'd suspect it is a waste of money and time.
