I've also seen the same dude deadlift about 400lbs. He's just a freak of nature.

Honestly, it takes seeing one of these people in action to believe it. I've seen a couple small guys, not big frames or anything, putting up some insane weight in the gym.

1 rep max, right?

If you're telling me you work out with that (sets of 4 and up) , I'm a bit doubtful. If you have REALLY short arms, I'd believe you.

I've lifted for a little over 15 years now and at 5'10" and 160lbs, I can "push" with 40 lbs. on dumbell curls, but that's only a single set of 4 and completing a slow positive AND slow negative rep (none of this "toss up" crap). I'm more interested in a balance of strength, speed and tone, so trying to bulk up is about last on my list.

If you've got that much natural strength, may I suggest rock-climbing or gymnastics. You'd be a beast...

Ever read the old Muscle and Fitness article where Arnold talked about the benefits of doing cheater reps with barbell curls?...seems to have worked for him.

May I suggest gymnastics, too.

An Iron Cross makes you WISH you could go back to 40lb curls.

lol

If you can do what you say you are... I'll see you on the rings, one day.. We'll have a go. Congrats.

I also remember him saying the best way over a lifting "plateau" was to get piss-drunk and then hit the gym for an orgy of pain-free lifting (well, until next day)...

Barring the fact that Arnold is a genetic freak and specimen that's not found on a daily basis, I have my doubts that someone with normally-proportioned arms in terms of length can work out with 40% of their body-weight in terms of curls.

I've seen some wild stuff in gyms, so I'm not totally discounting things, mind you.

I am 5'6" and 140lbs...I can throw up a 50lb dumbell...I will do sets with 30lbs and haven't needed to increase that in over a year. It's pretty obvious someone is just trying to make his ego inflate.

I look at this no diff than the guy with the stock civic saying he beat an SRT 4 or something along those lines...

18, 6'7" 165 pounds, i guess thats what happens when you grow fast and cant put on weight.

Sucks tho, cause ive tried working out and dieting and eating shakes and whatnot, nothing really works. i gain a little bit of muscle but not much, i think i need to do some hardcore biking and climbing to make some core strength.

You are a strait circus freak. Im 6'6" and weight about 195. When i was 18(im 26 now) i weighed closer to 180-185 and i was about the same hight. I too cant gain weight no matter how much i eat. When i was going to the gym 4 days a week, i got physicaly bigger, but didnt gain a pound. I can tell you one thing Biking and climbing is only gonna make you skinnier.

You're just like me dude. I can't gain weight(or height for that matter )! Being so small use to drive me nuts to noooo end. Growing up I was always, always out side (my mom would have to drag me inside for bed lol). Getting into high school my life changed to cars, working out, girls. Piriod. Other people would be playing video games(never liked them) or doing drugs, I would be working out. I've tried every thing I can think of... I don't think I could physically eat anymore than I already do. Hell I'd be willing to bet money (or maybe a 3L )I out eat the majority of the people on this board.(Friends always joke instead of getting the beer or week munchies, I get the 15 min munchies) People say just keep at it so I do, eventually lose motivation, then a month or two latter I notice my abs and chest diminishing and start working out like mad again (thank go for muscle memory). Just a big stupid cycle, BUT I'm not losing motivation this time! So this time around I'm critiquing my diet even more and working on proper form.

lol No need worry about me man, I'm well rounded thanks. I do low reps to work fast twitch fibers for strength as well as high reps to work slow twitch fibers.

Edit: Sorry missed your post platinum_drew

I go to failure, which is usually 5...maybe 6. When I able to confidently to 10 or so reps of w/e weight I'm on I add 5lb. I can do 3 or 4 reps with 50. But I'm getting there!
