Oversteer is cerainly a driver input commodity. You can defeat DTSC and with some good foot and wheel work the car will rotate. I admit though to having limited experience (had it less than 2 months).

For loads of goood info go here: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=51

As for price, it's a bit more, so is the CTS-V :

$43,550
300 Horsepower, 295 ft./lbs. @ 1,950 - 5,250 rpm
2.5-Liter, 5-Cylinder Turbocharger with Aluminum Cylinder Head / Block and Dual Wide Range Continuously Variable Valve Timing on Intake and Exhaust Camshafts
6-Speed Manual Transmission
Electronically Controlled All Wheel Drive
18" Pegasus Alloy Wheels
Metallic Paint
Premium Package: Power Glass Moonroof, HU-850 Audio System with In-Dash 6-CD Changer, AM/FM Stereo, Dolby Pro-Logic II® Surround Sound, 4x75-Watt Amplifier and 25-Watt Center Speaker, 13 Speakers
Climate Package: Heated Front Seats, Rainsensor

A recent Dyno:

Vehicle: 2005 S60R 6MT ~14,500 miles
Mods: Completely stock
Dyno: Dynojet 2wd dyno
Conditions: 75+% humidity ~65deg F, 2wd mode (with fuse pulled), Advanced 4-C setting. No changes made to the DSTC setting
All dynos are SAE corrected with 5 - 10 minutes of cooling between each run. Unfortunately the fans they used to 'simulate' driving air flow was pathetic, to say the least.

Dyno Run #1:
Max HP 254.56
Max TQ 281.00

Run two hit 287TQ at the wheels...ALL 4!

Good mods ca be found at iPD, VP Tuning and Evolve.

As for comfort, I can't speak highly enough! The fit and finish of the interior is amazing. The 4C adn selectable suspension are really cool! The front is comfortable for any size person. The back seats are not too much bigger than a Contour.

Performance wise, it's hard to beat for the price when you look at the total package. You could get the fun factor from a STi or EVO8, but they would lack the refinement. An S4 or M3 would be significantly more, but also post superior performance to go with the quality.

I will always have a Volvo. That's the best endorsement I can give.

Mark

That "turbo" badge is the perfect way to completely destroy a stunning car.

Someone should do him a huge favor and take it off.... with a grinder.

A VW Bug comes in Turbo Diesel - and it still wouldn't make it ok.

There's no excuse for lameness! Except maybe a medical condition.

S60R - Bitchen!

(Ronal Wheels - good enough although I like the Peg's more)
The pic you posted was not an R - it was a T5 - the wheels shown are tethys - I have them on my 242

I hear that. I've found that anyone whose ever owned a volvo, continues to keep on in their driveway (atleast people I know). I think that speaks for itself.

My uncle drove an S80 for 3 horrible horrible years after trading in his Mazda 929. He hated the car and will never buy Volvo again. Doesn't Help he replaced it with the new Infinity M35 either.

That said, I like the look of the new Volvos.

My parents have had mixed experience with recent volvo's. They always had one from the 70's to the mid 90's. My moms S80 was mediocre at best. Her S60awd has been pretty good...with only a few minor problems. Even the low pressure turbo is a fun car because of the low end torque. My only qualm is that my subaru's h-4 turbo feels a lot smoother and sounds better then her turbo 5 and the AWD system is nowhere near as good as the subarus. Volvo still makes the best seats around, have great stereos and easy to use well built interiors.

Either way that car looks hot. Those wheels look awesome. Why didn't volvo do dual-dual exhaust... the one set looks really well done two would look even better.

I'm definitely more of an HRE bbs or ccw person, although the wheels do fit the car pretty well.

I was speaking about the used markets. Cts' have taken a massive hit on depreciation, and 20k cars can be had for 30 even. As you can see this turns them into a great bargain. I've been seeing similar figures for the r's.

Also oversteer was a bad way to phrase my question, you hit my point much better with "rotation" I've tracked audis that are plagued with massive understeer, it would be unfortunate to make that mistake. It's a shame us enthusiasts can't test car a car in a similar manner to the way we will drive our own.
