yeah, even in Canadian dollars $26k is pretty pricey for a Cobalt. But that's absolutely loaded with all the toys, except for side curtain airbags and a subscription to Onstar and XM radio. Otherwise,I put every other option on it. Base Cobalts here start as low as $16,800.
Insurance is also a big factor. I looked at an '04 Grand Prix GT for $19,945,but financing was 8.5% and over $500/mo even with my $2000 down and trade in,and insurance was higher for the GPGT with the 3.8 rather than the Cobalt SS.
Cobalt is better on gas too. Fuel efficiency is a top priority for my new car,but I didn't want to be driving some weenie greenmobile.

Congratulations on the new cars.
I got myself a 05 Saab 9-2X Aero with all the goodies in: Leather, Enkei alloy wheels, Heated seats, premium sounds (still crappy though) and HIDs last summer. The turbo is fairly strong in the mid range.
But, I still keep my E0 almost stock CSVT! After the new headlights were in (from the Bill J group buy), it still looks fabulous. And the drive is still great. I plan to keep it as long as I can.
