My 95 Zetec 2.0 won't idle worth anything.
I've cleaned the IAC,MAF and replaced the PCV. Both were in good shape.
Also the plugs, wires and coil are new. Took it into my Tech's garage and he checked it for vacuum leaks, the EGR & solonoid and put it on the scope - nothing. There was never a CEL light through this whole thing anyway.
The timing belt is new.
The car runs great while driving it. Lots of pick up,no hesitation. The gas milage is poor.
He performed a fuel system flush/check yesterday -$89.

Any ideas? I'm running out of them here.

Thanks.

try replacing the IAC, cleaning sometimes doesn't do the trick, or at least try cleaning again

When I had the IAC off the first time, I should have put 12volts to it.
I might check the intake for a gasket leak?

....

Did that include a new fuel filter and a bottle of HEET or gas stabilizer in the fuel tank?

I'll bet the cams weren't checked when the belt was changed.

My intake cam was advanced, maybe 5-10 degrees. Ran good, but it wasn't on the money.

I replaced the fuel filter about 2 months ago.
I've never used the "HEAT" product before. What does it do?
I borrowed the Ford cam alignment tool when I changed the belt.
If the timing was off, it should run poorly always.
If a fuel injector was going bad, would the CEL light come on?

probably would throw a lean code.

I think it's HEET. Absorbs water in the fuel system.

The V6s with variable valve timing- retard the exhaust cam = better top end.

A vacuum leak is less apparent at high rpms.

Good-on-ya with the cam tool. Did you have to move either cam? If you did and didn't use any kind of Loctite material, one of them might of walked. There's supposed to be a Loctite to put on the cam to gear joint, that's to retain them.

My 96 Zetec has EXACTLY the same problem .lumpy idle.
I have also done everything mentioned above Inc New IAC.

The only thing i can find is that the downstream O2 sensor (after CAT) is not switching like the first O2 it stays Rich and sometime switches to lean , i'm wondering if that could cause it?

That's a new idea I haven't heard. It sounds good in theory.
So you replaced the IAC and there was no change at all? Not even a little?
I have no CEL codes do you have any?
Wounldn't a bad O2 send a code?
