Test the battery and alternator. Engine off, lights on for one minute. Battery voltage should be 12 to 12.5 across the terminals. Engine running, alternator voltage should be 14 to 14.5 acoss the battery terminals. If it checks out okay, check all wiring from battery to alternator or battery to ground. In addition, read this thread. http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=trouble&Number=1043318&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=all&vc=1

both the battery and alternator seem fine... with the lights on, my voltmeter to the alternator always reads around 14 - 14.5, and the battery is fine... don't know what the problem could be, maybe something slipping at super high rpm

Wrong. Brapple has the correct answer, as usual.
The alternator does the flickering battery light at high rpm when it in the process of failing.
If your headlights flicker or seem to dim irregularly at idle, then it could be just a battery cable or mega fuse is corroded & may need cleaning/replacing. If those things are clean then the alternator is indicated again. Get the charging system checked at the auto parts store to be sure it's the alt & not the battery at fault.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
