Oh man! @$#%*@#%@# Your list sucks, IMHO
This is too hard, for each rapper was top of his game in his era. Can't give an honest impression of Kanye West, WTF nominates that fuggin fool, can't stand him and he hasn't been around too long. I'll sort of rank who I think deserves to be mentioned so..
Old School or older rap 1.) Eazy E. 2.) Too Short (how come no one put him in before) 3.) Ice cube 3-4) Tupac 4.) Dr. Dre 4-5) Public Enemy! 5a) Run-D-MC 5.) Beastie Boys 6.) ICE T 6-7) Snoop Dog 7.) EPMD 8.) Too many other good one's to count, Fat Boys, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince, 2-live Crew, KRS-1
Not so old
1.) Trick Daddy 2.) DMX 3.) Outkast 4.) Master P. 4-5) Cypress Hill 5.) E40
Newer 1.) Eminem (gotta give it to him though he isn't my favorite, he can sell albums and his songs are catchy) 1-2) Outkast 2.) Ludicriss 3.) Snoop Dog
Theres other new ones that I like the music but don't know the names.

I honestly think that if you take all the categories, lyrical, beats, poetry, and political,
Then Too Short is probably my all time favorite.
He is weak in the political area though he has a few songs that are good, but in straight rhyming poetry, really cool beats, lyrical talent....He's number one. He hasn't put out a [censored] song or album. Some artists put out some great songs that may be better than some of his, but I don't know of any that are consistently that good. He only got one song that had radio play IIRC so you would have to be a real rap fan to put him on your list and you'd have to like old school to boot. Most people start off with radio play and buy albums, consequently he wasn't as well known. He was too dirty for that. lol But if you haven't listened to him, do yourself a favor and pick up one of his albums.

Yeah, I saw that after that fact. It was hard going down the lists and by page two I was insulted that short dog wasn't on any.

Probably about as insulted as we are that you have Trick Daddy and DMX 1-2 on one of your GOAT lists.

isnt he dead anyways?
if youre truly old school you'd know what i mean (not at you Tom)
Shorty the Pimp is his by far his best album IMO. "look out! Shorty the pimp......he walks with a liyump"
and "The Ghetto" has to be one of the GOAT songs!

Since when is Snoop Dogg "newer"? He has been around since 92. Master P, E40 and Cypress Hill have also been around for awhile.

How long have you been listening to rap? Busta Ryhmes was in a group called Leaders of the New School(note the "New School" part). Their first album came out in like 1991, so Snoop Dogg is definately "newer" unless you just started listening to rap 5 years ago.
