I was reading an article about Lost and I guess I missed something big last night. Did anyone see anything in the "the black-cloud monster?" I deleted it off my tivo so I can't check it out. I remember thinking it was odd, but I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention.
Read on. Lost Wouldn't it be funny if they showed the backstory of one of the random survivors and it was all happy and uncomplicated? Because, really, I don't think anyone on this show could win a game of "Whose preisland life was most tragic?" Although becoming a scary guerrilla fighter/gangster to save your brother and then getting him killed while trafficking drugs does rank up there. I've got to commend Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's acting skill: Before tonight's episode, his eyes had already told us what menace, sympathy and sadness Eko was hiding under all that faith. And man, is he clever, too. Did you notice how all Claire said was that Charlie carried a statue, and he guessed the entire thing? That's kind of an odd assumption to make. Charlie, on the other hand, is not so good with the detective work. "You're a priest!" he finally exclaimed after finding the dead guy with a collar and noticing the scripture on Eko's "Jesus stick." Armed with all that tragedy and faith, Eko scared away the black-cloud monster with just a mean ol' glare. This was the DVR slow-mo play of the week: After many rewinds and pauses, I'm pretty sure I could make out the shadowy images of the old man he killed, the church, his brother and the statue-selling lady. Seems to me like the monster is made up of what haunts you from your past. And after the kind of life he's had, neither that nor the insane coincidence of surviving a plane crash on the same island your brother crashed into years ago could make you flinch.
Suck it Trebek! And by Trebek I mean Seaegee!

i liked the black cloud thing. Eko is the first to have stood up to it and it didn't suck him into the ground.
i still think they are all in pergatory and the island is a test to see who makes it to heaven vs hell.

Anyone else still keeping up with this show? I'm just scratching the surface on all the interactive parts. tonight the clue was http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.comThe only thing on the page is a title "Permissum Vestri Complector Rector Vos" which loosely translates into the URL. The only clue with a compass on the show was Mike's when he was searching for Walt. He was told to go North. Can anyone get on the Hanso web site to see how to use this clue???

This show sounds slightly more intellegent than the average viewer can handle (or at least for what the mass media gives us credit for). Not saying its made up but are people looking too far into this?

excellent obversation, and up until now i have totally agreed....i have always stood by my theory of purgatory seeing as how all survivors were in the middle of life changing decisions, for the better...
however, the writers have specifically and very straight-forwardly proclaimed that this not purgatory, it is not a dream, nor is it an alternate reality being played out in someone's mind such as the theory of hurley (hugo) still being in a hospital...
absolutley LOVE this show, never missed an episode, next weeks finale promises to be very good...

From the very beginning I loved the Locke and Rousseau characters. They follow the philosophies of the people they are named after. There are just so many layers to this show.

Has anyone had any luck with the compass website? All I got was a compass that followed my mouse pointer.

Meh, I just watch it and don't try to figure it out. That would spoil the whole thing.

OK.
If you click on the 108, it should bring up a login console for the Hanso Fndn. It asks you if you are one of the good ones, type Y and nothing else. It then brings up a directory for key members of the Hanso Fndn, including Alvar Hanso and this guy HMcIntyre. You click into their folders to reveal more stuff.
Eventually you find this image:
http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/hmcintyr/mail/139191991471518711419.jpg
Notice the small type that says "The Mouth Piece" next to the Buddha. Clearly, this week is an ad for Jeep, but the clues are in the ads.
"The Mouth Piece" must be something to type into the Hanso Fndn web site, and it must have to do with McIntyre's Bio page. But when I first typed it in, I got no where.
If you go into the "INBOX" file for Pthompson you also get this code in binary:
01010100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01001101 01101111 01110101 01110100 01101000 00100000 01010000 01101001 01100101 01100011 01100101
And a link to a binary translator:
http://www.adcott.net/binary/
This code also says "The Mouth Piece" So that has to be the clue/password this week.
I went back to the site, and tried "themouthpiece" without spaces and it unlocks some information about McIntyre.
Then, if you go back to McIntyre's mail and open the file
http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/hmcintyr/mail/news_ad.jpg
You'll see in FAINT, MIRRORED letters "You are one no one loves. Happy Mother's Day" backwards towards the bottom. Not sure if that's a clue or an "easter egg."
Lastly, there's a movie link to a video about Jeeps. If you poke around this web site, you'll see other videos including one showing Alvar Hanso "on site" at one of his experimentation islands. And another orientation video showing the meaning of each of the hatches and what there experiments focused on. The Lost characters are in the electromagnetic "Swan" hatch. Locke and Echo found the observation "Pearl" hatch. The Others have a hatch too, but I don't know which is theirs. I need to go back to TIVO and slow it down where Michael walks by the door to their hatch. If I can match the symbol up with the video, I'll know what the Others are being tested on.
I also checked out the book that is referenced in places on hanso web site called "Bad Twin" by Gary Troup. Gary Troup is an anagram for Purgatory. I can't firgure out wehat Bad Twin references, but if you look the book up on Amazon it is clearly fictional and may contain more clues to the story.
