amen, why are you all such sarcastic douche bags all the time?
Mike's a sarcastic douche bag all the time? The guy who did all the legwork to get Morette's up and running? The guy who designed the CEG calendar 2 years running? The guy who has done countless photoshops for people over the years? That Mike, right?
Was Mike out of line? Sure. But to say he's a "sarcastic douche bag all the time?" is way out of line.
If you had bothered to look under the hood of something besides the Contour, you would see that plastic - not metal - is primarily used now for UIMs. Between my family and the fiance's family - 11 cars. Only one has (had) a metal UIM. Common knowledge.
I can only assume that Mike maybe had a bad day, was in a bad mood, whatever. Maybe he, like many of the vets, get a little irritated by the noobs: 1) not reading FAQs 2) not reading How-tos 3) not reading the Stickies 4) not using the Search 5) asking ridiculous questions like "How do I install a BOV without the turbo" 6) noobs crying and whining when they are told to read the FAQs, How-tos, Stickies, using Search 7) noobs piss poor attitudes when they don't get their way 8) noobs calling vets names etc. etc.
The hand-holding and butt wiping expected from the "me, me, me, now, now, now" generation is really freakin old.
pete out of curiusity..how old are you? i've read you making references to age lately...if your not a genx'r your in the "memememe nownow now " gen too....and tourige..i'm starting to thing,1)you have nothing good to say, ever 2)you have a strong dislike for carbon fiber

If that's the case, then my sincere apologies to BSpecialist! I always got your back Mike.

Response to:
1) Nothing good to say ever?
I call it like I see it. If I like something, I'll say say. If I dislike it, I'll say it. If it ruffles feathers, oh well. As I've always said - opinions are like [censored], everyone's got one.
2) Funny you should say I have a strong dislike for CF. You obviously didn't know my SVT very well - OEM CF hood, CF sail panels and the only set of CF mirror bases in existence.
3) Age. I'm very critical of the y-generation as they are defined - what they stand for, what they believe in, their mentality, their beliefs. Much of it goes against my views and beliefs and I will clash with the stereotypical Gen Yer.
As much as I dislike labels, I fall in the "Gen-x" group.
My morale values and beliefs are eerily very similar to those of Ray.
Here are some words I strongly believe in that will give you a better idea of who I am:
respect, discipline, honor, courage, hard work, dedication, committment, loyalty. Karma.
Some words that describe me (and what I've been told I am):
man of my word, stubborn, cynical, honest, too trusting, generous, critical, blunt, straightforward.
I've already wandered OT enough and I don't want to turn this into an ethical/political/religion/belief discussion in this thread. If you'd like to start a new topic in CI, I'd be more than happy to chime in.

Wow, I thought only the Focaljet had attitude. :-)
On with CF, I understand some not liking it, especially when the mainstream behavior is demonstrated, ie leaving it unpainted. I "really" don't like (I will refrain from using the 'H' word) a patchwork car, mine or otherwise. My son has a CF hood and trunk for his SVTC, but they hang in the garage awaiting paint. My CF hood for my SVTF hangs in garage PAINTED (!) but awaits cure so I can apply the 3m protective film. I really doubt the paint has significantly increased the weight.......and my car doesn't look like a show off car that just comes across as something that just pulled out of the breakers yard.
As for the issues with CF, I bought the supposedly best hood available, or at least from one of the few that are considered the top of the heap "CFX". I have issues with the shape and fitment and actually have issues with how hard it is to close and had to dremel a spot and find that it varies from the dimensions of the original by more than it's price tag would suggest.
Moral of the story: Don't expect too much of CF and don't, whatever you do, don't go cheap on it.
