im sure the car will look sweet as hell with a drop, some bigger rims, and nicer SS polished Exhaust.

Which in my opinion it should come with for how much you're shelling out. Not a fan.

Name another production car for $40k making 475hp w/ 475ft-lbs.

I don't think that's his point. If your going to make a so called sports car that's supposed to stand out from the regular GT, it shouldn't have just an increase in horsepower.

1> It's not a "so-called sports car". It's a muscle car.

2> It's not just 'increased horsepower'.
a completely different (and far superior) motor upgraded with parts from the Ford GT,
    a supercharger,
    a 6-Speed Transmission,
an upgraded suspension all around (shocks, springs, sways, etc),
14" front brakes and 13" rear brakes,
an upgraded interior with extensive use of leather (even the dash),
and of course the exterior mods

All told, an added $10,000 ain't so bad. The $10,000 between a V6 model and a V8 model for "just increased horsepower" doesn't stop tens of thousands of people from spending it.

Dollar for Dollar I don't think you could do all that stuff yourself for that price.

For reference, a 2000 Cobra R, with the same 5.4L motor (with less build-up than the new one has) went for a whopping $55,000 and I believe they still sell for damn near that. Don't think Ford had any trouble selling them, though, granted, there was only 300 of them.

It's about 12k more than what you can pick a GT up for "assuming it comes out right at 40K". Sorry but I personally would take the 12K and invest it into building one badass GT. If you love it, great go buy one and I'm sure you'll be more than happy with it. In my opinion Ford simply could have done a better job on car with so much potential.

Keep thinking that. Once you build your 'bad ass GT' and pulley swap and a tune will take your B.A. designation away from you and Mr. T. The only arguement less is "My insurance is for a GT and yours is for a Cobra."
