Since my Contour is black, I was wondering a way to black out the reverse lights. I got the idea following a Lincoln Continental today, and noticed the reverse lights are black. Any suggestions? I want to do this to my post 98 trunk I have now, but will probably do it on the pre 98 that is waiting to get paint. TIA

Here's a pic of mine blacked out. I used the spray tint stuff. It doesn't affect the lighting too much.

Just the right amount of black spray paint will do the trick..... only cheaper!
Be sure the plastic is VERY clean.... use a wax and grease remover/paint prep solvent.... I use DX330 Acryli-clean (available at local parts stores-Napa, Auto Tire & Parts, etc)
Just mist the paint on very very lightly from a good distance.... use flat or gloss black (flat might match the colour of the surrounding area better)....
Wetsand between coats with 1500 grit.
After paint dries for a few hours use some wax to protect it.....
I've done this with many things.....

I have a red pre-98 and hate the reverse lights. Would black look to stupid with red? Is there red I could use? I don't know anything about wet sanding or how much would be too much.(Not that I care all that much, cops here are fairly lenient, stupid, and I know a lot of em').
