Hey I got my svt painted last fall right before I put it in storage. It's black with some blue pearl and I was wondering what the best combination of of stuff would get the swirl marks out and give it a deep shine? I wash it once sometimes twice depending how dirty it is. The longevity isnt a big deal for me I dont mind waxing it once or twice a month. So what do you think?
thanks

Seeing that your in our "neck of the woods" I hope to see that ride at one our meets this spring/summer! Now as far as getting out the swirl marks, why not take it back to the bodyshop that painted it. I'm sure they really need to finish it off right after painting and can't do so usually until about a month or so, check into that first of all After than, your going to want to use Pinnacle "Souveran" at that bad boy, no doubt about it. In a couple of the pages here you'll see the "formula" for application, but to save you the trouble, heres what I do for that car after its been wheeled out professionally:

-clay bar, probably doesn't need it but with it being in the bodyshop, why not

-Klasse AIO

-Klasse SG- (2) coats waiting 8-12 hrs inbetween coats

-Pinnacle "Souveran" specially forumulated for blacks, reds and dark colored cars

Thanks for the info. I kinda knew the guy, not very well so I got a deal on the paint job. He let me help with tear off and sanding and all that fun stuff to keep the cost down. He put the wheel to it and I dont think he did a very good job It looks good but at certain points of veiw you can see the swirls so I gotta do something. I probaly wont take it back there the idiot that started to wheel it out sucked and f@$#t it up, and the owner guy I knew had to start all over. Anyways thanks for the info and let me know about the meets this year.

Roger,

I'm not knocking NXT. It's a fantastic one-step product. By no means does it even come close to the lines of Klasse, Pinnacle, P21S, Menzerna, Poor Boy's, Four Star, etc.

If you use AOI, there is zero need to use NXT. They are one in the same. Both are cleaners and fillers with mild abrasives. Neither is a true polish, and neither is a topper. AIO is the better cleaner and NXT provides some longevity. By applying NXT over AOI, all you are doing is removing the AOI you just applied, which makes no sense.

I'm going to start a new thread discussing detailing products with strengths, weaknesses, etc. There seems to be a lot of question regarding what to use with what color, what are the steps, etc.

I really think that there should be a detailing forum. granted, people arnt going to be as hard core about detailing with a contour as say, a Ferrari forum or something... but some are. and then there are the trolls that may be interested too.

This came up in the thread about redoing CEG that Pete started. Not sure if it is ever going to happen, but it would be the best thing for this site, it really needs to be trimmed and updated.

yeah i know, i saw that, thats why i was kinda re-emphasizing it again here.

I'd even volunteer to moderate a forum (if you even do volunteer, but you probably have to be chosen) since i'm on the site about a million times a day

ohh the downsides of not having a social life.

there are so many good detailing products out there... and it mostly comes down to how much you want to spend.

I think myself and/or Pete would make great moderators for the detailing forum As far as someone not being into detailing their Contours as much as say someone with a Ferrari, you'd be surpised I was at a local cruize night a couple years ago and there was a 360 Modena that was completely trashed, including alot of brake dust In addition to that ride, there was an equally filty Viper as well, so don't assume that because someone owns an exotic that they take care of it. Look at it like this, take what you have and try and keep it looking as new as possible
