Distilled water removes both ionic and nonionic contaminents.
Theoreticly(spelling?) rain water is distilled. So when it rains, i could grab a funnel and fill up the overflow resevor.

Only when you are up in the mountains and without acid rain issues.

That's not true. Distilled means the process of separating water from it's impurities by "stilling" it. Yes no surprise there. This method has the purified water re-condense and be deposited in a clean container.
Rain water requires a piece of sand, dust, contaminent, etc to get the water droplet to form around it. (why they can "seed" a rain cloud to make it rain)
Also this water droplet is contaminated by all the pollution in the air. Yes air pollution is very high even when you can not visibly see it. (i.e. smog)
Rain water is many things but pure it definitely is not. I would not even drink rain water because of it's high contamination rate. (lead, acids, hydrocarbons, chemicals, pesticides, etc) Do a search on rain water once. It is unbelievably frightening what's actually in it from the byproducts of an industrialized society.

Actually, I think you need to get distilled water deionized again. I imagine it would be fine for normal use but I remember needing triple deionized water in lab work back at the universtity.
