Stock to stock, personally I think the Fusion drives better then my Focus. It has a nice flat torque curve and is geared well enough so that I don't have to rev the piss out of it to take off from a stop.
I've driven a Focus w/ the 2.3L full cosworth setup and it drove great and the Cosworth setup is the way I'd probably go. I get a nice discount on it and I can have it installed right here at my shop. Naturally aspirated approx 250hp, the 2.3L weighs less then the V6 so the balance is a lot closer to 50/50 then the V6 and with my option package the weight is being taken out of the roof also. To me that an ideal setup. I don't care about having the most power or the fastest... I've been there & done that, I want a car thats fun and tailored to my tastes & needs.
