Yes, but I don't know of anyone that smokes 40+ joints a day (not saying noone does). I know plenty of people that smoke 40+ cigarettes a day. Regardless, smoking ANYTHING is bad for you and "shouldn't" be done.

I really don't think tobacco, alcohol, or marijuana should be legal, but obviously 2 out of 3 are, why not the third? How is it worse than the other two? How does making it illegal help our society?

Ray I somewhat agree with you BUT...

My reasoning is that alcohol is legal, yet marijuana is safer, has similar effects but to a lesser degree, and illegal. So marijuana SHOULD be legal. You can call this an excuse, but to me this is logical reasoning.

Yes no one should drive under influence of any drug, and yes, it's currently a crime to purchase marijuana (by federal law, some cities/states differ) as well as sell it.

Holy Cr@p! I had not idea I would spark such a thread. Almost as good as my Jill Wagner one.

My opinions are as follows, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Weed is a plant, growing naturally in the wild. The only thing needed to enjoy it's benefits is to let it dry. It can be smoked or injested. You can use the trichomes from the plant to make hash, or cannabutter which can be spread like land o lakes and used on bread and also used for baking.

Alcohol has to be manufactured in some form. Be it fermantation or otherwise. We all know all types of alcohol can be used in cooking.

The health affects from alcohol are MUCH greater than MJ. You can get liver disease, pancreas problem, brain problems, and even heart problems to name a few.

There are NO links of MJ causing cancer, http://www.webmd.com/content/article/23/1728_57309

And in the past I have driven stoned, and drunk, just stoned, and just drunk. And I can tell you, when I was drunk it was way worse!! Hence me not doing that anymore.

This was in no way meant to be a religious thing, so please stop post such nonsense of he said, she said. That is ruining the whole aspect of this discussion.

If I had a choice, I would smoke MJ instead of drinking. Ever wake up with a hangover after smoking blunts all night? Nope.

Ever wake up with a massive headache and rot gut after a night of drinking, yup, this Sunday after New Years Eve.

MJ should be legalized. It can be regulated and taxed just like alcohol and cigarettes (both my parents died of Lung Cancer and my mother-in-law is in the hospital as I type this with pulmonary (sp?) problem. All of them have smoked for over 50 years.

Plus Cigs are NASTY, they make your clothes, house, car, breath, and everything just NASTY. Ever clean a house that had a smoker living in it? How about when you go out to the bar and you smell your clothes the next day. NASTY.

Well, time to go home. Talk to you all later.

Hey, man... I am, believe it or not, not on EITHE side. so whatever excuses or reasons, or whatever you have are yours and yours alone. You don't need to "prove" anything to me, though you do sound like a rather intelligent young man.

I am not advocating it, I'm not saying not to.. I am saying that I find this entire conversation hilarious, and the fact that BOTH SIDES think that they AREN'T doing what they are accusing the OTHERSIDE of doing. (making excuses) is downright funny.

the global argument over this ain't gonna change because of what some Contour owners (and a few trolls, I won't leave you guys out! ) say about it on this site.

But, going to another site that would welcome this entire blown-out-of-proportion argument a little more open-armed would be a great thing. (again, I am not leaving anyone out.. everyone can feel free to copy/paste this entire thread and move it along to ANY other forum... )

To clear up the "crimes with dealing", the crimes associated with weed (other than using it), are brought about by someone getting ripped off, theft, greed or whatever else can happen on the black market due to the substance being illegal.

Another alternative to smoking, is using a vapourizor. It works by heating up the herb to the temperature which THC becomes a vapor. This eliminates the carcinogenic toxins that are present when burning the herb.

This is a copy of the report of the national commission of ganja for the Jamaican government.

Briefly, the only real "side effects" were bronchitis-like symptoms from smoking (this is believed to occur because of the actual burning of the plant material.) If the plant is vaporized or smoked through a water bong the amount of carcinogen removal is near 99%.

Also, people who had a predisposition to schizophrenia who smoked weed had the onslaught of the symptoms occur sooner.

With regards to driving, the only correlation between weed and bad driving was that the fatal accidents with people that tested positive for THC also tested positive for alcohol in their systems. Therefore they could not conclude that the chemical THC was the direct or even a contributing factor in the crash. Remember, THC is stored in the fatty tissue of the body and will remain (inactively) in the system for weeks.

Being one of the younger kids here (18) puts me (feeling wise) right in the middle of this debate. I smoke pot off and on. During school year I'll stay clean and I dont even think about smoking. During the summer I cut myself some slack and have fun. Reguardless I'm still a hard worker. In no way does my quality of work lesson or my work ethic depleate. I agree with what Kremit is saying in terms of logical reasoning. Based on effects of alcohol it makes sense that marijuana should be legal. It should also have an age restriction like alcohol to keep things in check. I mean honestly If I go to a buddys apartment and smoke a joint between a few people and throw on a movie, what harm are we causing? I can come up with good reasons for both sides on why and why it shouldent be legalized. I dont know.....guess I'm just rambling....either way it doesnt matter if its legalized. Its easy to get, fairly cheap (if you got the hook-ups ), and the risks are small (if your smart).
