Well if he's anything like me, he knows some pot smokers, and has seen where their life has gone. I mean, if you want to live in a $300 apartment, and wait tables the rest of your life to barely support your habit, then by all means go ahead. That's the kind of life every stoner I know leads. I personally like to think that I'm above that. Anyways, since when did smoking pot past the age of 17 make you cool? My point is, some people grow up, and some don't.

There's a difference between a 'stoner' and someone who smokes weed. Just like there's a difference between an alcoholic and someone that drinks alcohol.
You would probably be surprised at the percentage of people you see everyday, including people you know well, that smoke weed currently in various quantities. But it's not really socially acceptable to talk about it so few people mention it.
Though I personally don't currently smoke any, I would say that definitely more than 1 in 10 and maybe even close to 20% of those I know do. And the people I associate with would hardly be considered slackers. I doubt any of them would be considered anything less than upper-middle class if I had to put a label on it. They're all various working professionals - engineers, programmers, executives, etc.

This is not going to be welcome here, but hey, time to post my opinion on this subject:
As a Christian, I believe the Holy Bible, and I believe that Jesus was God. I believe that upon receiving God's gift of salvation, your body becomes a holy temple for the Holy Spirit to live in, and God commands you not to harm your temple. We all know the effects of "weed, pot, mary jane" has on your brain, your lungs, your central nervous system, etc etc etc. Therefor, it would be a contradiction of God's character for him to smoke pot.
Harming your temple is a sin, and Jesus was sinless!

While this is a good point, it assumes that 2000 years ago they knew the effects of marijuana on the body which they surely didn't.
We also know for a fact, according to even the US federal government, that marijuana does significantly less physical and neurological damage than alcohol consumption does. And we know for a fact that Jesus drank alcohol.

For those of you saying NNNNNOOOOOOOO, have you tried IT? Probably not because its not just incoherent stuff while your stoned. The brain needs a outlet, a way to let it run wild. It is like stretching your imagination giving it no boundries. I always think its funny when people say that it should never be legalized. Well i think Alcohol should be ILLEGAL. How many people smoke a joint and beat their wife, friend, or anyone else. Alcohol turns some people into a evil person, you cant control it. But stoned you arent thinking negative thoughts your thinking anything but negative.....
Dont knock it till you try it... I would rather put marijuana into my body rather then alcohol, its preverences.

I have tried pot many many many times in my life, and I have to tell you, as for opening your mind and all that jazz, come on man, I never felt like I was more productive or happier, or less strressed when I was high. I really pity you if your life requires you to smoke pot to allow your brain an outlet, and to feel at peace.
