I'm not sure about acid-dipping the Mystique grille... I was there when J-lab did his front grille and it's VERY flexible, unlike the Contour one. It's more like rubber than plastic if you ask me, the weirdest thing.
Body shop was worried about the paint holding on to it, they used flex agents of course. Got it painted at a dealership BTW.
Removing the slats was a major PITA, not for the faint oh heart. It must have take Jeff a couple day's just to do that without messing it up. He hand-sanded the chrome away on his grille before giving it to the body shop for final prep.
And his car does look fantastic!
