I think that's what is so good about it. Very tasteful and understated compared to most factory "tuner" cars.

With the Mazdaspeed coming, I'm not sure that Mazda has much to worry about. The reliability is rock solid and so far the reviews favored the Mazda over the Pontiac. But with both companies adding power to the mix I don't think anyone loses.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat with that drivetrain. Very good for Pontiac. Too bad you can't get a stripper no power anything hardtop version for $20K though...

I think the lines of the car are very similar to the curves you'd see on a Jaguar. Here we have a car that looks basically identical to the concept right down to the wheels, which rarely happens. The new Miata on the other hand...

Kinda looks like the designers drew upon a giant chicken nugget for inspiration, then added flares. I was dissapointed. I could do better in my sleep.

Well, the reviews I have seen have showed a very slight edge for the MX-5 because it's a little more tossable. I somehow don't see MS making the same power levels as this, which would give an edge to the solstice. Obviously, teh MX-5 has the track record and is the current benchmark for the class, but it looks like that won't last.

With Mazda pimping the hell out of its' award-winning DISI 2.3L Turbo, and making plans to stick it in virtually every car in its' lineup, it's not at all hard to imagine them turning it the 'right' way (same as GM did with the normally transverse Ecotec) and sticking it in the Miata. That would surpass the output of the Solstice by roughly 20/25 in a car that's some 300lbs lighter.

Having driven a MX-5 at the Mazda event, I'd be really interested in interior space and accessibility of the Solstice. If it's even a little more roomy inside, with the power bump it would be an easy choice for me.
