http://www.prostreetonline.com/parts/ford/contour/shocks.htmsaw this....I thought we were limited to Koni, Bilstein, KYB(emphasis on the "KY")....anyone know anything about these? I can only find these in a few sites and I don't see any info on Tokico's site....but, they could be brand new, or the info is not correct. I'm hoping it is - the price is pretty good! Comments?

I understand that Tokico is the vendor that supplies the struts used on the Contour, and probably the Motorcraft replacements as well.
I did not know that Tokico marketed them in their own name.
I do remember that Tokico had planned on supplying struts for our cars, but backed off. I think that that was a performance oriented struts though, not a factory replacement.
I doubt that the fronts would be valved more agressively as the 98.5 + original SVT struts are.
I'm also sure that the catalog is in error, showing the same part number for the fronts for 97 as for the 98+.
Tokico makes exceptional product and has an excellent reputation.

I have no clue how they would be on a Contour, but I used to run them on my Civic, and man, I loved those things.

I got the impression that they were OEM replacements, not performance struts... Can anybody clarify?
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

No, these are not OEM replacements. Also, they have 2 series. Performance and Illumina.
Performance is none adjustable, Illumina is adjustable like KONI.
From what I can see, Illumina is not available for our cars, only Performance.

It's been discussed many times in the past - Illumina was supposed to be made for Contiques, but never were.
Speaking to a rep there a few years ago, they basically said it wasn't worth it to produce the Illumina for Contiques.
