Do you think a tribute to American troops is a good place to be an obnoxious [censored]? Having a freedom of speech is not an excuse for having the inability to show respect for an event and the people an event may be honoring.

Falling back on the 'freedom of speech' thing is so lame and old. I don't remember where Trapps said he wanted to take the dumbass's freedom of speech away, but if you could point that out for me I'd appreciate it.

Kicking his butt for what he said, would be telling him he did not have the right to say what he did. RIGHT? I'm not saying it was the right time or right place to make anti- Bush statements. As an American he has the right to his opinion and the right to have bad timing.

The right to free speech does not include the right for:
1) ignorant comments
2) inconsiderate comments
3) stupidity

I figure I should just drive through a community heavily populated by blacks and go around saying, "Howdy, nigger!" Would you be upset if I got my ass kicked? Probably not. I should know that I have it coming. I doubt they'd pull their fists back when I show them the Bill of Rights, and rightfully so, I suppose.

No! Where do you get that from? You would beat his ass for being an obnoxious tool, not because he didn't have a right to be.

Actually it includes all of those. At the same time, though, the law would probably be lenient given the circumstances. In other words, I wouldn't expect security or police to be in too much of a rush to stop the fat guy from getting his arse kicked.

So then why are people like Rush Limbaugh cricified if they cleverly notice that Donovan McNabb is black? Isn't that freedom of speech, and he should get a free pass, right?

I think Tommy's referring to the public perception of those comments. If you say something stupid, you don't have the right for those comments to be accepted without reaction. Like he says below, there's a double standard when it comes to perception of 'freedom of speech'. Pat Robertson says we should assassinate Hugo Chavez, and it's the most awful thing anyone has ever said; people say President Bush should be assassinated, and they're 'exercising their right to free speech'.

So what your saying is I have the right to make a judgment call that because I disagree with what you say I have the right to kick your butt? Where do you get that from?

As a matter of fact it stands for exactly that. Read the Constitution. It does not say We have the freedom of speech with the exception of ignorant, inconsiderate, stupid comments.
