Unf'nbelievable.

The boy either has a brass set of nads the size of Rhode Island or he's hovering in the negatives on the IQ scale.

Kid flies to Kuwait
Kid takes cab to Iraq Border
Kid takes cab from Iraq border to Kuwait
Kid flies to family in Lebanon
Kid flies from Lebanon to Baghdad
Kid stays in hotel in Green Zone
Kids ventures out once or twice in the green zone
Kid is picked up by the Army and transported to embassy and flown stateside.

Doesn't seem too dangerous to me, aside from him arguing with cab-drivers, and we in the states know that arguing with a cab driver is never a good idea.

That's pretty cool. If I were his teacher I'd give him a 200 just for effort.

If he knew how to speak any popular Arabic dialect, I'd agree and wouldn't have batted an eye. Walking into Baghdad with Nike's on and whipping out a phrase-book when trying to communicate screams "kidnap my ass" or "shoot me" no matter what hot-spot you're travelling in...

I've got a frame of reference to work with as I've illegally entered Morocco (rather unfriendly outside of Casablanca and Marrakesh for the most part) during days gone by but NOT during a time of war, not without knowing how to communicate and not without having someone next to me that could also handle themselves compentently if anything became "odd".

It was interesting enough in the pre 9/11 days doing something like that; I couldn't imagine trying a taxi service into Baghdad from Kuwait in times like this...

This was a bloody high-school journalism nerd, for chrissakes!

Awesome! Agreed, it was more or less a death wish but I won't let that fact prevent me from being entertained by it. One thing is certain: this guy will never have to buy anything from a mall kiosk to serve as a conversation starter. He'll be smart if he sells a "I Ditched School and Risked My Life Going to Baghdad and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" shirt.

I can't get the image of the people looking at him stutter from an Arabic phrase book out of my head.

My question is how come his parents didn't know he was gone till he called from Kuate? The bottom line is that he is a very lucky Bone Head.

For the record, it's spelled "Kuwait".

Not blasting you, just saying it was original.

No harm meant. Sheesh.
