The Contour was a pet project of then Ford CEO Jac Nassar. Jac was unloved (if not downright hated) by other Ford execs, and when they managed to boot him a few years ago, they also wanted to rid themselves of any of his memories. Since the Contour was one of his "babies", it was on the list to go down the road with Jac.
I don't think Ford will ever bring back the Contour name. The name doesn't have a positive or sentimental image with the buying public, so like other models, such as the Tempo, Pinto, etc, the name will be retired forever.

Ummm, Alex Trotman was CEO of Ford untill 1999. Jac Nassar was CEO when they caned it.

There is so much misinformation in this thread that I'm not even going to bother to respond or try to RE-correct it (read: again.. this has been hashed over ad nauseum in the past)

lol my biggest problem with the fusion is that is tubby compared to the contour. I would have to find a way to drop weight out of it if I got one. Fusion weighs ~3300 + driver and I'm a fat man at heart so me in a fusion is 3500 pounds...
