So I go down to my local dealer today to get a new blower motor resistor and I figure while I was there I would also ask about making an appointment to have my PCM updated. I have 2 CEL codes I can't seem to get rid of no matter what. A friend of mine with a SVT said just go to Ford and ask them to reflash it and they will do it for free. I ask the service desk about making an appointment to have it done, takes all my information, and says ok, we can do it next week, it'll be about $85 (a hours labor). So I made the appointment anyways and will decide during the week if I'm doing it or not. Most likely not. My questions are, is the dealer supposed to charge for this or not? Is it a waste of time/money anyways if I get the car tuned for the 3L? I'm waiting for the tuning because I am nowhere near done with the exhaust. It's all stock. And a little problem with money.

It is not a free service unless someone is willing to give it away. One hour labor is the common rate for a reflash.

Well I'm glad that was cleared up for me. I'm just going to cancel the appointment and hold off till I get the ADC chip. I have no idea how my buddy was able to get his done for free.

What are the CELs for? There is a TSB that suggests a reflash if you keep tripping in-effecient cat performance. I got mine reprogamed free... service writers best friend, which now that I own a Ford, is a very handy situation indeed.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 Sensor Heater Malfunction - replaced O2 sensor with brand new Bosch, and checked all wires. No matter what I do, always comes back.
IMRC Stuck Open - replaced IMRC 2 times. Thought my original was bad, so I installed one from a 98 Taurus said to be working. Cable was too short and had to relocate it. Watched the IMRC open and close no problem, but same code. So I bought another one from a 99 SVT, mounted back in original location, and same code again. Note: this is after replacing the engine with a 3L and making sure everything was cleaned and operational before reinstalling. (I had this code before the 3L also)
Any recommendations from anyone to fix these? I'm at a loss.

Also, so what TSB can I get Ford to reflash my computer on for free with OBDII codes P0135 and P1518?
Mods, feel free to move this to Troubleshooting since the subject kinda changed. Thanks.

TSB's provide information to help with repairs. They do not authorize charging the repairs to Ford. Ford would pay for the repair if there was still some sort of warranty coverage that included whatever the failure was.
I have heard of cases of a reflash being covered by the 8/80 emissions warranty, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate.

Yea, I don't think Ford will do it for free, but you can try pulling the emissions warrenty card, maybe that'll work. I'll ask my buddy to run those codes in Oasis and see if they are candidates for the latest re-cal offering some help.
