-Thanks Tom let me know if you find those caps I appreciate it.

-As far as why I am choosing the full 3L route is because I bought this car at a steal and it came with the motor ready to be put in. I dont have much money to spend on port matching the heads and doing all of the extra things that need to be done in order to mate split port heads to SVT intakes and going the hybrid route really doesnt impress me sorry to say since it carries many drain issues of the 2.5L heads to the 3L. and the list may go on and on.

-Now if someone were interested in the car and purchased it before I did the swap then I could install the motor the way they wanted it and with whatever goodies they buy and send me to install on the car obviously for an extra assembly fee but that way a person could have the 3L that they have been wanting. *For instance I will be installing a new stock SVT clutch for buyer benefit of not having to change the clutch on the 86K car and it would be ready to drive but if someone wanted a spec clutch instead then they could send it to me and I could install that instead along with an aftermarket flywheel, PnP heads etc...

Id like to name a price for the car but I dont want to turn this useful post to me into a classified add and get locked up. If someome is interested then just Pm me and we can talk from there.

You really shouldn't listen to all they hype.

I've built hybrids that ROCK!!!! And I've built an ovalport 3L.
There are almost no hybrids that have failed, I can only think of one they did and could possibly be an arguing point.

I don't think Drainback is really the issue anyone is making out. It is a possibility but it isn't really an ISSUE.

Other than that, you do need to know how to do the porting and other work yourself for the hybrid to be a viable option. If not, then port matching the Ovalport is the best way to go.
Believe me, it is easier to do the portmatch and throw in the SVT cams then to Rig everything for a straight 3L drop in.
Trust me, portmatching for the ovalport is not Hard.

Ive got PnP heads on my 99 3L SVT and I love them with the SVT intakes. but think about this. I have spent x amount of money for the car and all im going to do is sell it. Motor is blown so the 3L is a must to be able to make anything off of the car. Why add to x with gaskets, misc parts, port matching and etc... when I dont expect to get more than 7500-8000.00 for this car.

Ya know, when the day comes that I've got the money to do the conversion, I think I'll offer to skidpad-test the drainback theory on my 2.5L in exchange for labor help on swapping engines. Fill the oilpan to the factory-spec level, get on a pad (or parking lot), and crank a right-turn circle for as long and as fast as possible until something happens.

First off, if you put a straight 3L in, straight from the salvage yard and without at least an internal visual inspection, you're running a pretty big risk. I know I wouldn't buy the car knowing this... You should be looking at a gasket set and a few misc parts either way for this swap. At the VERY VERY least a pan gasket and a leak down test to check the ring seal and bearings...

As for your price... even with custom parts, you're high on your price estimate. Special interest vehicles very rarely go higher than book value, no matter how many extras they carry. Be prepared to sit on it quite a while at that price...

Just FYI... My '99 SE in great condition went for only a few hundred over book value with a 3L, new style pan, DMD, suspension mods, SVT brakes, custom exhaust, 17" rims, etc... and I sat on it for nearly a year trying to find the right buyer.

Thanks brad for your info. I know the price is kind of high but you have to start somewhere and then negotiate. I dont see the purpose of tearing down the motor when it only has 7k miles on it. I will do a new oil pan gasket and updated oil pan to add to buyer assurance. Since I will have to remove the timing cover to exchange it with the 2.5 cover I will be changing those gaskets as well. Once I have the pan off I can inspect the underside of the 3L and look for any thing out of the ordinary. Ill have pics of the car and motor by Friday.
