I have H&R's and the front splitter I have scrapped many many many times. It will not break off and I've hit it pretty hard just some small pieces came off which you have to look fairly well to notice. It is really strong and you don't have anything to worry about. Just take everything at an angle and you will do fine. You shouldn't scrape if you take thing at a angle.
