Only certain government student loans can be consolidated. Other private student loans do not qualify for the Federal Student Loan Consolidation program.
that and the benifit to consolidate fed. loans for the past 3-4 years is to lock in the intrest rate. Cons. doesnt lower your rate, it only locks it in and allows you more time to pay it off.
