Welding the end plates with a simple bead on each one would be ideal though so it doesn't wiggle loose. Any exhaust shop could do that in 10 minutes, max - that's what I did with mine.

sounds like good insurance, but I don't think mine has moved, but I haven't autocrossed my car or anything, just pretty normal driving

i cranked mine down really good. hasn't moved!! I could hang off mine literally, and i am 175 pounds!! no drilling or welds. But if u decide to do autocross racing and u mean buissness i say weld it. Security is always good!!
I have the same bar red too!! Works great and u can feel the back end feeling more solid. Less slack in the rear especially when u turn the corner and hit a bump. It feels solid!!
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

If you seriously autocross, check the rules wrt welding. Even full cages have to be bolt-in until you get pretty far up the class scale.
Function before fashion.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

i built my own this summer...but i thought i read here awhile back that there should be plates on the end..to dispurse the pressure over a larger area?b/c over time the st will start to give in from so much pressure concentrated in a small area..?
