I just pulled the door strips off of my black 'Tour. Everything went fine until I ripped the front passenger side molding off. It looks like the door was repainted from the molding up and they masked it off around the strip.

Basically I have a long strip of rough, overspray-looking paint down the length of the door! eek BAD FORM! Just my luck, I suppose. I might be able to sand it out but I doubt it. I'll have to take the buffer to it later.

Anyone else had this happen? I knew the upper-half of the door was repainted, too! I've painted lots of doors and fenders using the same masking technique yet I still didn't think about it... I'm a bloomin idiot!

My entire driver's side has been repainted with the ding strips in place. mad

I think that they actually did the entire car. The paint is having problems pretty much everywhere.

I just washed the car and looked it over closely for the first time in a long time. eek UGH! Lots of ugly stuff everywhere! I even had a ding underneath a rear molding! Anyway, all is good except the front pass door.

I think I'm going to repaint the door like XTREME did. I'm going to try sanding & buffing tomorrow. ExDelayed, I feel for you shocked .

Same situation:
Black E1
Same Actions:
Pulled all 4 off..
Same Results:
Front Pass door has the SAME strip.
It's even rough to the touch, too.. frown

Let me know if the buffer is worth the work, or I should just re-paint, to fix it.

Please email re:doors at navy.mil..

Thanks.

Ray

Hopefully I'll get to the buffing today. I'll post back when I finish and let you guys know how it went.

I'm thinking I can wet sand it (lightly) with 1500 or 2000 and buff it, but I'm afraid I'm going to end up with a solid line... oh, well can't get much worse than it is now! frown

BTW, I feel for you perry! Is that color mismatch, a repaint job, or did the clear coat come off?
