how does terry keep all that stuff in his head? then he finds time to take it out of his head and give it to us, then re-learn it so he can give it to us again another time.

I'd go with some Never-Dull and wax them when you wax the car. I always use my wheel cleaner on the tips when I wash my car too, this may not protect them from the elements but it does keep them clean, which I guess would keep them from rusting

The reason for the s/s numbers in my post is clear...before you buy any s/s product ask WHAT TYPE of stainless its made of, that will tell you if it's going to rust ...if they dont know..run!!!

Don't know anyone who sells ferritic tips. It would defeat the purpose , as they will exhibit surface rust. Most tips are either 304SS, or chromed mild steel (I don't like the chromed steel, cause sometimes (say all the time) the chrome and nickeled layer is THIN) Just make sure you buy 304SS if you plan on keeping the exhaust more than 2 years. Oh, and if you see rust on 304, its usually surface iron dust (say, from brake discs) and it will clean up nice with a little polish. Just make sure if you get them welded in, the guy covers them nice to avoid splatter. Most shops will weld with a general purpose mig wire, which will cause rust spots when it splatters on the 304. Don't ask how I know  Just reread the first post. They probably destroyed the passive film with the etching process. Is the surface in the Borla letters rougher than the overal tip? If it is, the crevices are trapping contaminants and iron dust, adding some red color where you do not want it... Best way to keep the rust from coming back would be to polish the letters out to a smooth surface, if they are just etched and not engraved. How attached are you to the Borla name?
