That is a limitless downward spiral.
But, if you can pull the tranny yourself, you'd save a lot on labor. Worth a shot if you have time but not money.
But, tranny stuff is expensive. The more you drive it, the more you'll break, and the more expensive it will be.
You could maybe pick up a cheap "new" tranny on Ebay and just remove and replace, at least for the short term. The box might be "suspect" but it might get you by. Or, it might be a waste of money and fail on you in another 30k.
Or, consider a bicycle. Seriously, not to be mean, but if you can't afford to fix problems as soon as they crop up, you're going to stay on this downward spiral with any car. Get something really cheap and start putting money in savings.
